Extract PDF pages
Extract any number of pages from a PDF file
Description
I was surprised with how little can be done with PDFs in Shortcuts, especially because PDF is a native format of the platform.
Printing is the native workaround to extract a page (or a selection of them), but it's hard to find if no one tells you about it. And you can't use it to get non-continuous pages.¹ So I decided to see what could be done with Shortcuts. The results are far from espectacular, but the shortcut may be useful in a pinch.
A Spanish version is also available.
(¹) Well, what do you know! Since releasing version 1.1.0 I've found out the system's printing dialog can be used to get non-contiguous pages. And it also creates PDFs if you pinch out!
What you can do
- Extract any single page
- Extract any range of pages
- Extract any combination of ordered pages
And all this without losing resolution or access to the text of the PDF!
What you can't do
- Preview the pages (yet)
- Extract each page to a separate file (yet)
- Reorder pages (although Toolbox Pro has an Edit List action. Mmmm...)
- Rotate pages²
- Combine pages²
(²) I don't see a way to do these without converting the pages to images
