Homebridge

What does this do? Well the answer is simple. This is a shortcut that allows you to manage your Homebridge instance using Siri and Natural Language. Here are the full feature sets!

Restart Homebridge service
Reboot your server (macOS, Pi, and Linux users only)
Check the online status of your instance (is Homebridge running?)
Check your Server's Internet connection
Perform an ISP Speed Test (macOS Users only. this uses a brew tool called "speedtest-cli")
Check the CPU temperature on your server (macOS, Linux and Pi users only. macOS users need to use a brew tool called "osx-cpu-temp")
You can delete your configuration by telling it to "restore the shortcut" this deletes your configuration.

If you ever need a little help on what you can do, you can say "Help Me" and Siri will tell you all the available actions :)

Hi, I am a little new to using shortcuts. I got everything to work with this, but when I run it with "INTERNET" I get the notification that says I am connected, but I get a banner message that says: 35 zsh:1: command not found: INTERNET The same thing happens with RUNNING, but SPEED TEST works fine. Any idea why that error is popping up?

Hey there! For internet I am unsure why it’s giving an error. My guess is that for whatever reason, you Mac is having a hard time finding the Ping command over SSH. As for speed test, you need to have the home brew tool Speedtest-cli installed :)

Pretty cool. The temperature says, “-1” for me. I’m running alpine Linux in Docker.

Thanks for the feedback! As for temperature, this may be an issue specifically with Linux docker images. Config UI can pull the temperature from the system information. However, as of right now I believe only raspberry pi’s are supported. I’m not sure about docker, so I will have to take a look at it and see if I can add a configuration for it :-) for now, you may not be able to use the feature :-( I’m sorry about that…

Seems like you just need to check the OS and then tweak how you get temperature. Shouldn’t be too hard.

On paper yes, but the temperature for this tool is pulled from the Config-UI-X API. For Mac users, I use a brew dependency that gathers it :)

Yeah, the API is a little bugged for this sort of stuff at the moment :) While we are at it, let’s see if we can get macOS numbers :) If you play around it a lot, let me know what works and doesn’t! I am on the Homebridge discord, and can easily be reached on the #shortcuts channel. You can also reach me on Reddit (u/PaRkThEcAr1) I am always looking for people to collaborate with, as hardware diversity can be an issue with this :)

Oznu says, -1 means getting the CPU temp is not supported on docker. :( Maybe you can broach it with him on discord to see if that is solvable ? :/

Docker support is on the way, but may be a bit down the road :) supposedly the API is being expanded to cover this :)

Also, some feedback. I personally prefer a menu to the "type in your input". I have to remember what the options are, etc.

Afternoon! I think you have the wrong shortcut! I have a version of this that is menu based here :) https://routinehub.co/shortcut/4486 Docker support is inbound as the API gets updated. This tool also has more tools and options available! But bare in mind it’s on beta and not finished :)

This shortcut, the Siri Homebridge manager is designed to ONLY be used with Siri. If you are wanting a menu experience, use the other one :)

o.k.... but... These don't need to be different shortcuts. :) If user uses siri, it will provide input. If no input, then show menus. But like I said, I don't see menus in the other one either. When I download https://routinehub.co/shortcut/4486 I end up with 4989. Something is broken.

Sorry, my bad, I sent the wrong link :) https://routinehub.co/shortcut/5622 They do need different shortcuts, as the utility and use case is different :) this one I sent you has a number of custom uses that just don’t translate to audio the same way. And this shortcut is mostly designed as a Widget. The Siri version is better suited for voice control. It also lacks a few tools :). Using menus with Siri results in her reading All options. One day they may be merged.
