Welcome to I'm Up!

this is an all in one morning routine designed with the HomePod as a focus.

just say "Hey Siri, I'm Up" and she will do the following.

Greet you, give you the date and time, calculate the number of days till a specified event (defaults to Christmas) read off your calendar events and reminders, and finally, it will ask you if you want to hear the news from an RSS feed of your choice, or if you want to play music.

NOTE: the RSS news reader feature will ask you if you want to hear more about the headline of an article. with the HomePod and Siri, you can simply say "Yes" or "No" and she will do different things.

This is real nice. Thanks for sharing. For some reason, the calendar doesn’t read events if they’re “all day” events, like birthdays, etc. Would also be nice if the weather had the high and low of the day and if it was going to rain/snow!

Hey! thanks for the feedback! this is all a good suggestion! however, i have only one struggle. Birthdays may be a touch difficult to implement, but i will give it an honest shot for 2.1! everything else will be really easy to throw in :) thanks for using I'm Up! if you like it, please share it around! quality HomePod shortcuts are hard to find these days :)

No problem and huge thanks! I’ve been looking for one that works with HomePod and can’t really find a good one until I saw yours! Might also be nice to have the option to just have Siri read some news titles to you instead of asking if you want to hear each story :) thanks again and looking forward to future updates.

Love where’s it’s headed! When I get some time this week I’m going to play around with it a little too. Few errors with the calendar events (all day) and weather hi temp. I also have to figure out how to get it to get the temp from Nest (which I have in my homekit) :)

Hope you had a good Christmas! I’m not sure why, but I keep getting a “This operation couldn’t be completed. (kCLErrorDomain error 8.)” error. It seems to work for a day, then the next day I get that error. I even restored my phone as new, and it still did the same thing. The only way I can “fix” it is by restoring phone to backup or as new, but then in a day it goes back to that error. Any ideas?

Check your events :) if you have some that use a location like “room 243” that could be why you are getting that error. I had someone in reddit with the same issue, that seemed to be the reason.

I just found this shortcut, and it's a great use of the tools. Some of the variable fields weren't completed, of course, so I had to enter my own. The only ones I can't figure out are the "Run Shortcut" actions at the end. Which shortcuts should be in those fields?

Hi! Sorry for the late reply! iOS shortcuts doesn’t let you get Apple Watch status I believe :? But I am going to check and see if that can be worked around :) this is an awesome suggestion, thanks!

Will it be possible to store the main sentences in a file on iCloud...? I have my Siri speaking French so when there is an update I have to translate the shortcut main sentence every time... at least until Siri can speak correctly more than one language...

This is a fantastic idea! At the moment, I’m not sure how to implement this sort of tool, but what you could do is create a document in your files with a raw dump of the translation, split it by item and then plug in each line.

My idea was you to create an English.json file and you use this to run the shortcut. On my side I can create a French.json and just replace the variable....
