Force touching the notification and tapping the URL just took me to Reminders.

Thanks for letting me know. I honestly have no idea how that happened, though. What does the URL in the notes of the text start with? It should be “shortcuts://“

Just installed it on my wife’s phone, and it worked fine. Make sure you’re clicking the URL, and not the rest of the notification. If you want, you can try getting it from this link, but I don’t think I’ve made any changes since posting to routinehub.

Hello! I’m sorry to hear you’re having this issue. When the notification appears, and you swipe down or force-touch on it, to see the notes, does the URL appear in blue text? If so, it is not broken, and you simply have to adjust your tapping. One thing I like to do is hold down on the link for just a second until I see a dark outline around the URL, indicating that when I release my finger, it will launch the URL. If you don’t see that outline, you missed the tappable area. In which case...

...Just drag your finger a little bit and release to avoid launching into the reminders app and try again. Either way, to send the message, you just have to run the shortcut again. This is just meant to be another way to do that for your convenience

Reminders are scheduled in the evening (19:30) even though I select the corresponding time in the morning (7:30). V6.1, on iOS 12.2, with a Spanish locale and 24h time regional setting (the date-time picker therefore also being 24h).
I've seen a similar bug when sending dates to the Health app as short/medium/long, and was solved sending it as simply RFC 2822. What step in the shortcut should I make that edit to see if it solves it?

You know, that’s a first for me. The step you’re wanting to take a look at will be toward the end of each block of “create a message” section. It’s an “ask for input” action. Though when you get there, I have no idea how to fix that.
· 1 year, 2 months ago
· 1 year, 2 months ago
@elmimmo
Indeed, in “Add New Reminder” actions, tapping on the variable assigned to “Alert Time”, then tapping on its input type right below the variable's name (it reads “as Text” in some, “as Date” in others), and changing it to Type: Date and Date Format: RFC 2822 fixes the issue. I only tested with Create Individual Message.

Glad to see you’re getting some use out of my shortcuts! So I recently updated how the reminders are scheduled and sent. Be sure to hit “check for updates” before you do anything. Then, go to all the auto Messages that you have scheduled (I have a dedicated list in reminders for these, personally). At the end of the notes of each reminder, add “;;No” (just the 2 semicolons and the word “no”—not the quotes). That’s the third index it’s asking for. All future reminders will put it automatically

Sure thing! If it doesn’t work, or it you can’t find it, get back to me and I’ll see what I can do. When I updated though, that was the only thing that got messed up in the conversion. The downside of iOS 13 is that reminders no longer show notes in the notification previews. So when your reminder goes off, you’ll have to just run the shortcut. Maybe consider adding an “auto message launcher” shortcut to your home screen.

Any plans/thoughts on a replacement mechanism for launching Auto Message from a scheduled notification now that it's no longer possible to do so with Reminders in iOS 13? I've been trying out various methods myself, since I have numerous Shortcuts that relied heavily on the this, and the best alternative I've found thus far is the App 'Pushcut.'

An absolutely amazing tool! Thank you for creating this.
I don’t want to sound ingenious, but had an idea (I haven’t read all the other comments and may have already been brought up), is there a way add an option to schedule a new reminder message for the same contact at a later date? And maybe open the message app to the contacts conversation to ensure that you aren’t doubling up at sending a message that doesn’t need to be sent.
Again, what you have done here is amazing.

Couldn’t resist. Got the menus down. I just have to work on the actual menu content, a new “run from ‘favorites’ input” at the top, and work it into the “create a message” portion. https://i.imgur.com/dkl5OIt.jpg

hell yeah! I guess I couldn't resist either since ive been procrastinating studying trying an idea I had for ur menu lol so I know you already use OutputKit/HTML for the 'view groups,' but I thought it might be cool to display the 'view favorites' as a contact-style list. that way you can use the contact photo as an icon & add options (e.g., create message, remove favorite, etc.) for the selected if you want — something like this (+ a back button): https://i.imgur.com/1H1MM6k.png

Duuuuuuuude! That’s brilliant! I will DEFINITELY do it that way. Idk how to create a message from there other than pasting in the entire “individual message” code, but as far as I know a longer code doesn’t necessarily slow it down, so why not? But that looks way better than outputkit. I’ll have to see if I can figure out how you did that.

Hello!
Don’t know why but the shortcuts doesn’t function anymore when I try start it from the Notification Center.
Btw the shortcut is way more slow then the last update (before there’s like 400 action now 1500... really slow it down!!!... what a potty!)

I apologize for your experience with the shortcut. The number of actions does not affect the speed with which the shortcut runs. And it hasn’t been as short as 400 actions for maybe 8 months or so, so you may have been running a version without many of the wonderful features I’ve been adding. Sadly, my 7+ also runs this slower than I would like. But newer phone models can run it without hardly any delay! Which model do you have?

I have an iPhone 11 Pro and it runs slower.
It's actually impossible to run it in the notifications center. I don't know why. Already tried to re-install but still doesn't work.

First off, I was wrong about the timeframe. Turns out things got crazy back in September. So not 8 months. Second of all, I had saved a backup before all the craziness, and would be happy to share it with you. Hope you continue enjoy this version you’ve grown accustomed to! https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/b967bf80743b4627bfb34d1705f662e1

Yeah, get the linked one. It won’t have all the new features, because it’s an older version. If you don’t want to be prompted to update, you can find the version number near the top. Just change it to the current version number listed on this webpage.

I try one more time to install the actual version. But it doesn’t. So I reinstalled the version you linked and it comes back to normal : bit more fast and it works from the Notification Center. Thank you

Most common error=you didn’t make the list you entered match your reminders list exactly (case-sensitive). Use the orange “change list” option at the bottom of the main menu and enter it correctly and set a new reminder to test it out. Let me know if it works.

Not at this time. I’m unfamiliar with WhatsApp, and don’t know if a simple phone number would suffice. But if it does, it shouldn’t be too hard for you to change it on your device, and just swap out the “send message” action for a WhatsApp one. But I just don’t have the stamina to do it all over. Haha

@Bingobucketser, messaged in the RoutineHub discord too, but wanted to post here.
im trying to edit the shortcut Auto Message and i understand how to remove functionality of options like "Create Group Message", "Create Mass Message" or any other option within the script, however I don't see how to remove the Menu Option in the popup menu when you run the shortcut.
how can I add or remove a menu option?

Oh, like, just within the menu itself? Just delete the text for that “contact.” There’s a text box right before the “choose item from list” that initiates the menu. Highlighted here: https://i.imgur.com/qF4FgMj.jpg. You just delete the menu option between the words “Begin card” and “end card” that correspond with the option you wish to remove. Lemme know if you need help.

also, are you locally (ie on icloud drive or locally on the phonea) saving the vcards (vcf file you're doing save script to?). or are you just saving that to phone memory temporarily with the script command and then it's garbage collected by the phone automatically?

Nevermind haha, I changed the menu around to save to a menu.vcf file on my icloud then edited the menu through the computer and I have the shortcut read the file from icloud instead of from a text box :). better for editing in my opinion

I thought that’s what you may be referring to, but I removed it last summer, after iOS 13 removed the ability to preview the notes of a reminder from the notification. This feature hasn’t been available since iOS 12. Was there something of it still present in the current version? Some kind of instruction indicating that you need to click on a link?

I installed the shortcut and setup reminders per the instructions. I run it and try to send a message. It adds a reminder and after it goes off, I rerun auto messages shortcut but it does not send any messages. Nice idea but so far can’t get it to do anything.

Haha. I think this is the ONLY issue people have. The problem is that it can’t find the reminder, likely because it wasn’t copied EXACTLY. It needs to be exactly the name of the list, down to the capitalizations. Fix that with the “reset list” menu option and run it again. If it doesn’t work, we’ll go from there.
· 3 months, 1 week ago
· 3 months, 1 week ago
@ihf
That was the problem (case). If this happens so often the 1st time it is used, perhaps the shortcut could say that it didn't find the list? In any case, works now and I thank you!

Haha. Not giving it permission to work as intended would indeed mess with its function. Earlier versions of the shortcut had the user put in the name of the Reminders list through the “import menu.” The downside of that was each time the user updated the shortcut, they would have to re-enter the list. Someone suggested I store the list name in iCloud Drive permanently, so I did. The other use of iCloud Drive is to store images until they’re ready to be sent.

The current build is stable for public versions of iOS. I don’t have a developer account and likely won’t get the public betas, so I won’t be able to do much for the watch until I get it, but I’m gonna try and get ahead by having other people test it for me.

For those of us on ios14 how about adding into the URL field in reminders a link to run the shortcut so when the reminder pops up one can click on the deep link that is then created?

Great suggestion! I saw that the URL field was now available in the “add reminder” action. Are you saying to launch it from the notification? ‘Cause idk if the URL would be visible there (users used to be able to pull down on banners to reveal notes, which is where I stored the URL previously). Or did you intend to tap the notification to go to the reminders app and launch the URL from there? If so, idk how intuitive that would be, but I could include it for those that would want it.
· 3 weeks, 2 days ago

You are right - you can't run it from the notification but you can run it from the link it creates in the Reminders list. I would imagine that would still be useful to a lot of users.
